ARTIST BIO

Originally from Central Asia Renata Franzky is a painter living and working in Munich, Germany.
Mother of three daughters, Renata Franzky is a practicing artist interested in the relationship between the materiality of painting, surface, and line as symbols of grief, loss, joy in the context of everyday situations. All her paintings are related to the experiences of a mother who witnesses her growing children in a wide variety of life situations and stages.

"Making the invisible visible” - capturing emotions, and feelings in stylized scenes of daily life. Besides the magic and poetry of everyday life, prominent themes in her painting include life, love as well as the transience of life.

With her words: ”Human and the figurative take center stage in my work. In the seemingly banal, yet profound meaning of everyday life and the mystery of life is sought, and our inner emotional world alluded to by unusual details. As human beings we are all a form, but not a rigid one. We show our hidden feelings and emotions through certain gestures and body language. We react to our outside world; we are sensitive and reflective beings. Therefore, my painting is about how we relate to our environment and what feelings and emotions it provokes in us”.

Renata works in series in large format. Working in series allows her to deal with the complexity of the issues she chooses. A single painting is not enough to her to address all the questions raised.
Since her first exhibition in 2012 in Munich, followed by other national and international. Her works have been shown in various exhibitions and galleries such as in Germany, Luxembourg, Italy, and Hong-Kong. Among others, at the biennials and exhibitions such as the Florence Biennale, Arte Lagune Prize in Venice, Luxembourg Art Prizes, and others.

ARTIST STATEMENT

"Making the invisible visible” - capturing people, emotions, and feelings in stylized scenes of daily life. Besides the magic and poetry of everyday life, prominent themes in my painting include life, love and death as well as the transience of life.

Human being and the figurative take centre stage in my work, abstract and yet not abstract. In the seemingly banal, yet profound meaning of everyday life, “truthfulness" and the mystery of life is sought, and our inner emotional world alluded to by unusual details. Using methods of contrast such as colour, surface and the line as contour, at times impasto, at times poetically translucent, I attempt to portray the suffering and the lighter moments of life. What is always important is the message and the artistic expression. I work in large format in acrylic or oil, and as a rule, in series. Working in series allows me to deal with the complexity of the issues I choose. A single painting is not enough to address all the questions raised.

Drawing and painting have always been a escape to my own imaginary world. The passion for art led me to the decision to devote myself intensively in studies of painting. Strong colors and staging as well as subtle elements are mixed up in my work. I am working with acrylic, oil, woodcut and lithography with topics such as human being and beauty in everyday life. The spaces, colours, and lines as graphic elements are my main emphasis. The questions in my works remain the same: How can painting reach people today? How can the artist’s message touch the heart of the viewer?
